BROWNSBURG – Victor H. Overman, 88, of Brownsburg, passed away Aug. 22, 2011.
He married Suzanne Rapp, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and then graduated from Ball State University in 1946. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Indiana Football Hall of Fame, Ball State Athletic Hall of Fame, Michigan City High School Football Hall of Fame and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash, and BSU Alumni Football Coach of the Year. He was a teacher and coach for 36 years at Westfield, Rochester, Franklin College, Michigan City, Mishawaka, retiring from Brownsburg High School as head football coach. Following retirement, he coached Brownsburg Junior Football and served 12 years as a member of the Brownsburg School Board. He also worked as a greeter for the Brownsburg Walmart.
Also surviving are his children: Daniel (and spouse Mary), Nancy Overman Johnson, David (and spouse Debbie), Robert (and spouse Paula) and Mary Ann (and spouse William) Zweige; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, and from 10:25 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
