MENTONE – Victor Donald Waech, 87, of Mentone, passed peacefully at 6:45 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation of Elkhart.
Victor was born on Nov. 29, 1936, in Chicago, to the late Theodore C. and Martha Riesner Waech. He was married on May 11, 1968, in Chicago, to Diana C. Marohn, who preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2023.
Victor worked for the Warsaw post office as the custodian for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Rochester, where he was a former deacon. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and shooting guns with the Burket Gun Club.
He is survived by his son, Nick and his wife Andrea Waech; daughter, Aileen Joy Waech, of Florida; and grandchildren: Austin, Sarina, Elliana and Piper.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; wife Diana; and brother, Theodore Gustev Waech.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Rev. Curtis May officiating. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 6 p.m.
A private interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
