Norman R. Metzler, 95, was honored as Kosciusko County’s Veteran of The Month Tuesday. In 1944, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and soon was headed to France near enemy lines. He was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and a series of other battles that eventually left him and his fellow soldiers in Russian territory. He was soon promoted to private first class and T-4 sergeant before being discharged. Among the medals he received was a Bronze Star. He is a resident of Dewart Lake.
