David Read was honored as the Veteran of the Month Tuesday by Kosciusko County Commissioners. Read entered the Navy in 1943 and served on the LST 813, a landing ship tank that delivered Marines to Iwo Jima and later was converted to do minesweeping in the harbors of Japan. After being discharged in 1946, Read moved to Milwaukee, started a family, worked as an engineer and moved to Warsaw in 2008. Pictured (L to R) are Commissioner Bob Conley, County Veterans Affairs Officer Rich Maron, Read, and commissioners Ron Truex and Brad Jackson.
