ELKHART - Vernon R. Sailor, 81, of 1610 Deer Run Road, Elkhart, died at 10 a.m. Nov. 18, 2007, in his residence.
He was born May 14, 1926, in Elkhart, to Ansel R. and Anna L. Eppers Sailor. On July 5, 1991, in Elkhart, he married Annie Doris Reese, who survives.
He was founder and owner of Versail Manufacturing, Sailor Manufacturing and Vern's Quality Products. He was a board member of Bethel College and IMHA-RIVA; past president of the MHI board; and served on the board of directors of 1st National Bank (now Key) and State Bank, Syracuse. He was a member of RV/MH Hall of Fame and Baugo Lions Club, and past chairman of WDA, recently awarded the Golden Deeds award from Elkhart Noon Exchange Club. He attended many missionary churches. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dianne (and spouse Buddy) Stewing and Tammy Jo Hunt, both of Elkhart; four sons, Larson R. (and spouse Sandy) Sailor and Paul W. (and spouse Ann) Sailor, both of Mottville, Mich., and Dennis J. (and spouse Sue) Hunt and Michael L. Hunt, both of Elkhart; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Sailor, Elkhart; and two brothers, Dale W. Sailor, Constantine, Mich., and Clyde Sailor, Corydon. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Victor, Robert, George, Albert, Clem and Edward Sailor, and a sister, Martha Sailor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hubbard Hill Estates, 28070 CR 24, Elkhart, with Pastor E. Wayne Speicher of Hubbard Hill Estates officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
