COLUMBIA CITY - Vernelle Zurbrick, 84, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Columbia City, died at 8:55 p.m. March 8, 2008, at Consultant Health Care, North Fort Myers.
She was born April 24, 1923, in Larwill, to Fred L. and Lydia Schuman Binkley. On April 14, 1945, in New Haven, she married John P. Zurbrick, who preceded her in death.
From 1945-1954, she was a resident of Union Township, Whitley County, and from 1954-1972 she lived in Larwill. In 1972, she moved to Fort Wayne, and since 1980, she has lived in Florida. She graduated from Larwill High School. She worked as a secretary in the offices of Larwill and Whitko School administration offices, Pierceton, and then became a secretary at IPFW University, Fort Wayne. She was a member of North Fort Myers United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at noon Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
