SYRACUSE – Verna Cross, 73, of Syracuse, passed away July 19, 2012, in her residence.
She was born March 23, 1939, in Momence, Ill., to Julius and Mable Whitten Toma. In 1957, she married Ray N. Cross, who died in 1994.
She moved to Syracuse from Muncie in 1997. She formerly worked at Stonehenge Country Club and at Comprehensive Mental Health, Muncie, for 10 years.
Surviving are a son, David Cross, Syracuse; a granddaughter, Erica Cross, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Vera Scheppler and Patricia Latty, both of Bourbonnais, Ill.; and a brother, Robert Toma, Momence, Ill. She also was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
A graveside service will be a later date at Garden of Memories, Muncie.
