AKRON – Verl I. Miles Jr., 65, of 9751 S. CR 1000W, Akron, passed away unexpectedly at 11:57 a.m. April 7, 2013, in the emergency room at Wabash County Hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1947, in Marion, to Verl and Lela Mae Henson Miles. On May 18, 1990, in Akron, he married Kathy Klein Spangle, who survives. He was an Army Ranger for two years and was in the U.S. Navy for 10 years, serving his country in Vietnam. He most recently was a maintenance man at Fort Wayne Foundry, Columbia City. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1965. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and trail riding and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Also surviving are two daughters, Amy (and spouse Bryan) Rice, Silver Lake, and Leslie Miles, Warsaw; a stepson, Josh (and spouse Sarah) Spangle, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Amy (and spouse Brett) Leach, Warsaw; and grandchildren, Keagan, Hunter, Gabrien and Josiah Rice, all of Silver Lake, and Ema Ousley and Vivienne Spangle, both of Warsaw; three brothers: Gregg (and spouse Dianne) Miles, Illinois; Douglas Miles, South Whitley; and Shayne (and spouse Tirzah) Miles, Warsaw; and three sisters, Dawne Miles, Kentucky; Nikki (and spouse Lonnie) Henson, Alabama; and Tasha Meyers, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darryl Miles. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., officiated by the Revs. Marvin Parrish and Michael Rohrer and with military rites to follow by members of Fulton County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
