NAPPANEE - Verda P. Wise, 88, formerly of Nappanee, died at 4:40 a.m. March 6, 2010, in Lakeland Heath Care Center, after an extended illness, after living there for four years.
She was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Kosciusko County, to Merl and Mary Koltz Mikel. On March 3, 1946, in Nappanee, she married Raymond D. Wise, who died July 11, 1986.
A lifetime Nappanee area resident, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and is a former member of the Northwood Circle Bible Study Group.
Survivors include: a son, Merl (and spouse Diane) Wise, Nappanee; three daughters: Janice (and spouse Steve) Biller, Warsaw; Barb (and spouse John) Kindig, Goshen; Betty (and spouse Dave) Hahn, Nappanee; two brothers, Lowell (and spouse Evelyn) Mikel, Nappanee, and Donald Mikel, Orlando, Fla., nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nappanee United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jan Brown officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at the church.
