Vera Shavers, 76, of 2802 Widaman St., Winona Lake, passed away at 6:57 p.m. Sept. 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Karlsruhe, Germany, to Herbert and Elizabeth Stingel Bandelier. On Aug. 8, 1980, she married Ron Shavers, who survives. She worked as an accountant at Ashland Chemical and Hewlett Packard, both of Chicago, retiring in 2001. She resided in Kosciusko County since 2001. She was a member of the Kosciusko County Democratic Party. She enjoyed needlepoint and cross stitching. In her youth, she helped the U.S. Military with translations after World War II. She will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Mario (and spouse Sarah) Eberle, Washington, D.C., and Ron Shavers Jr., Albany N.Y.; and four grandchildren: Gabriella, Massimo, Rhianna and Veronica. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Milana Shavers; one brother, Hans; and one sister, Margaret Nelson. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with the Revs. Curtis Love and Robert Shavers officiating. ***** Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o Kosciusko Community Senior Services, 800 N.
