Warsaw will have a new carpet store and warehouse facility now that variances have been approved.

The Board of Zoning Appeals approved variances for the carpet showroom and warehouse facility at its meeting Thursday.

Petitioners William and Vanessa Harpenau requested a variance of use to allow for carpet sales in an I-2 light industrial district at 2249 N. Detroit St., formerly Lakeside Chevrolet.

The carpet store will include a 5,000- to 6,000-foot showroom where retail sales will be held.

An expanded showroom and warehouse also will be located behind the facility at 301 Poor Drive.

The board also approved a request by petitioner Edward Hartman to construct a deck on the east side of his business, NetSolutions, 1421 E. Center St. The business provides computer services.

The board approved a variance request from Hartman to allow a variance from development standards to allow for a 10-foot, 8-inch variance for a 4-foot, 4-inch sideyard setback to construct a 6-foot, 9-inch by 9-foot, 3-inch deck on the east side of the building.

Hartman attended the meeting and said the deck will be located at the main entrance of the business and extend out to allow for room when a person opens the door and carries computer equipment in.
