The Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved two home occupations' variance requests and one setback variance at Monday's meeting.
A setback variance petition by Joel Pratt, 1308 Country Club Terrace, was unanimously approved. Pratt sought the variance for the construction of a two-story addition to his home, to include a garage and two bedrooms upstairs.
"The building foundation sits withing the setback line, but the overhang is slightly over it," said City Planner Jeff Noffsinger. "Their next-door neighbor, Dr. Richard Carmen, had a similar variance approved last year."
Carmen was present to support Pratt's request.
In other business, the board approved a home occupation variance for Brian Catron, 1130 Country Club Road. Catron will operate a carpet cleaning business from his residence. No signage was requested.
The home occupation variance request by Ben and Tammie Huntington, 215 N. Washington Street, was approved. The Huntingtons will offer piano lessons from their home. A 4-square-foot sign was approved as a part of the variance.
