Vandals Target Windows

Police have no suspects or leads in 10 incidents of criminal mischief that were reported between 12:36 a.m. and 6:52 a.m. today and caused more than $5,050 in damages.

At least eight cars and two businesses had windows broken in the incidents.

Around 12:36 a.m. today, Deborah Rosalie Meyer of Market Street, Warsaw, called the police to report an attempted break-in to her vehicle. She found scratches on the car that looked as if someone tried to break in. The damage estimate was $100.

A few minutes later, Nathan Kent Burke, Roann, reported a window broken and a cellular telephone stolen from his car while it was parked in Warsaw. Estimated loss is $500.

While investigating another incident, police noticed damage to a vehicle in the parking lot of the Times-Union at the corner of Indiana and Market streets. The owner of the vehicle, Joseph E. Kirkendall, Center Street, Warsaw, was informed around 12:55 a.m. today his vehicle had several windows broken. He later discovered an XM radio also was stolen. The damage estimate is $1,300.

Between 1:15 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. today, five more incidents of cars with broken windows were reported. Terry Lee Leek, Hepler Drive; Timothy Stewart Rohr, Greenhill Drive; Juan Adame, Wood Street; Kimberly Morga, Market Street; and Clarence Allan Hamman, Scott Street, each saw between $250 and $750 damage to each of their vehicles from the broken windows.

Around 6:37 a.m. today, Samantha Sharllene Wood reported a brick thrown through a large window in her apartment, causing $300 damage.

Then at 6:52 a.m., Joy McCarthy-Sessing reported the glass broken out of two outside storm doors at the Warsaw/Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce building. The damage to the doors is estimated at $300.
