Friday in Nappanee Triton fell behind by as many as nine points after the first quarter before falling to NorthWood 54-50 in Nappanee Friday night. Joey Corder led the Trojans with 15 points. Austin Sellers had 11 and Masen Yeo added 10 for Triton. NorthWood’s Braxton Linville led all scorers with 22, and Panthers Vincent Miranda and Dakuyron Fox had 15 points each. NorthWood had a big advantage at the free throw line, making 15 of 27 attempts, compared to Triton’s 5-8 effort. Girls Basketball Friday in Elkhart Lakeland Christian Academy lost at Jimtown 42-33 Friday night. Junior classmates Hannah Delp and Rachel Sand scored 10 points each for the Lady Cougars. Melissa Goss added six points, Maryl Gerst five and Ashley Ormsby 2 for LCA. The Lady Cougars, now 1-5 on the year, will host Hamilton at 6 p.m. Saturday night.
Swimming Thursday in Manchester Maconaquah swept both the girls and boys swim teams from Manchester Thursday night. The girls score was 134-29, and the boys was 145-32. The Squires’ 200-yard medley relay team of Ben Green, Evan Milam, Colin Garcia and Noah Cain finished third with a time of 2:03.36. Garcia won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.38, and Cain finished third in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.54. For the Lady Squires, Alexis Vernon finished third in the 200 indivudual medley in 2:49.40. Allison Smith took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:20.19, and the relay team of Smith, Vernon, Tahnee Fuentes and Corrie Osborne finished second in the 400 freestyle relay in 5:03.20. Manchester swims Tuesday at Rochester.
Thursday at Wabash Tippecanoe Valley’s girls swim team beat Wabash 110-65, while the boys team dropped a 86-52 decision to the Apaches Thursday night. Kate Gunter won the 100 Butterfly, the 200 individual medley and raced on two winning realy teams. Sarah Jones won the 100 freestyle, the 100 backstroke and was also on two winning relays. For the Vikings, C. Brower won the 100 freestyle, and finished second in the 100 backstroke. D. Alexander won the 100 butterfly and finished second in the 200 individual medley.
