Valley's Sectional Win Leads Roundup

A pair of Three Rivers Conference rivals battled Wednesday evening in the first round of the high school boys tennis sectional at Warsaw Community High School.
With a 5-0 win over the Whitko Wildcats, the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings advanced to today’s secound round and will face the host Tigers at 4:30 p.m.
In the other semifinal match, the Columbia City Eagles will square off with the Wawasee Warriors.
Today’s winners will play for the championship Friday at 4:30 p.m.
In beating Whitko, the Vikings won all five matches in straight sets, the most lopsided being Isaac Shewman’s 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tyler Pottenger at No. 3 singles.
Nick Kindig and Tanner Neeley also won singles matches for Valley, while Clayton Adamson and Derrick Cunningham won at No. 1 doubles, and Robby Groom and Logan Britton were winners at No. 2 doubles.

Wednesday in Bremen
Triton High School’s boys tennis season concluded Wednesday, as the Trojans fell 4-1 to the host Bremen Lions in sectional action.
The Trojans’ lone point came in the No. 1 doubles match, where Jeff Ross and Pete Kauffman beat Nate Strehler and Joe Zeltwanger 6-2, 6-1.
Triton finished its season with a 9-5 record.

Wednesday in North Manchester
Three different players scored goals for Manchester, as the Squires beat the North Miami Warriors 3-1 Wednesday at Good Field.
Braydon Sewell scored his first high school goal, doing so on an assist from Colin McNeeley.
Andrew Hill and Tom Naragon scored the other goals, both off assists from David Fahs-Brown.
With the win, the Squires improved to 7-5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Wednesday in South Whitley
The Whitko Lady Wilcats led 1-0 at halftime, but gave up three goals in the second half and fell 3-1 to county rival Columbia City Wednesday.
Sydney Sims scored the lone goal for the hosts, while Shila Tolliver scored twice for the Lady Eagles and Haley Boner scored the other goal.
