Valley Turns Close Game Into BlowoutAKRON – What was a close game after the first quarter turned into a 40-point blowout Thursday night, as Tippecanoe Valley High School girls basketball coach Chris Kindig notched his 100th career win. Leading 11-10 after eight minutes of action, the Class 3A No. 6 Lady Vikings flat out dominated the Winamac Lady Warriors en route to a 69-29 non-conference win. Valley scored 21 points in the second stanza, while Winamac scored just 19 points over the final three quarters. The Lady Vikings improved to 10-2 on the season, as they now turn their attention to Saturday’s showdown in South Whitley with Class 2A No. 1 Whitko. Winamac, which entered Thursday’s contest on a four-game win streak, fell to 6-4 on the season. Kindig is now 100-48 in his seventh season with the Lady Vikings, who are 60-7 since the start of the 2014-15 season. Senior Anne Secrest led the way for Valley with 16 points, four blocks, four steals and three rebounds. Senior Meredith Brouyette and junior Addy Miller scored 13 points each, while sophomore Emily Peterson and junior Asia O’Connor chipped in with 11 and seven, respectively. Sophomore Sophie Bussard scored four points, and came up big with 10 assists and seven steals. As a team, the Lady Vikings had 18 steals and 22 assists.
