AKRON — The TIppecanoe Valley volleyball team is on its hottest streak of the season. Entering the week at 2-9, the Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings picked up a three-game sweep over North Miami Tuesday, then pulled off another sweep Thursday at home over Triton, 25-23, 25-9, 25-10. "The girls have really been working hard on playing together, and I feel as the season's progressed, we've started to work as a team and have gotten into our rhythm," Valley coach Abby Turner said about her team's two-straight wins. The opening-game of the match wouldn't have let anyone know it was going to be a sweep, as Valley led for the most part, but only trailed once in a 25-23 victory. In the opening game, Valley freshman Caylie Teel led the way with six of her match-high 10 kills, proving to be quite a force at the net. "She's been working all season to perfect her hitting and she's done a really nice job for us," Turner said. Along with her kills, Teel also finished the match with four blocks, nine digs and two aces. Also for Valley, junior Connor Fraser posted six kills, sophomore Sara Alexander and sophomore Kelsey Ball each had three blocks, senior Megan Bibler finished with 14 digs and freshman Tenaya Shull had a match-high 10 assists. Triton's lone bright spot was junior Shana Anderson, who had seven kills, six blocks, nine digs and two aces. Sitting at 4-9 on the season, the Lady Vikings are hoping to continue the success next week, as they travel to LaVille Tuesday before visiting Manchester Thursday in a Three Rivers Conference matchup. "We just want to keep the winning streak going — the winning attitude — and just keep building on our success," Turner said. The Lady Trojans return to the court Saturday, hosting their own tournament, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
