Valley Soils Judging Team Going To NationalsTippecanoe Valley Soils Judging Teams competed in the state contest in Morgan County Saturday. Students judged four sites – two agriculture sites and two home sites. Judges must determine nine physical properties and then figure out management practices for either agriculture use or home site use. The top five teams in both the 4-H division and the FFA division earn trips to the national contest in Oklahoma the first week of May. Tippecanoe Valley’s 4-H team placed fifth and won a trip to nationals. Team members were Sidney Petersen, sixth high individual; Cheney Canada, Amber Evans and Hayley Backus. The FFA team finished 18th out of 51 teams. Team members were Makenzie Woodcox, Brandt Alber, Sarah Kelley and Nicole Ziemek. This will be the first time in school history a soils team from Valley has made it to nationals. Teams are coached by Michael Jones, Tippecanoe Valley FFA advisor and 4-H leader.
