AKRON - At the Tippecanoe Valley School Board meeting Monday night, the board approved a Guaranteed Energy Savings contract with A. Hattersley & Sons Inc., Fort Wayne.
A Guaranteed Energy Savings contract refers to a contract in which a qualified provider enters into an agreement with a governing body to evaluate and recommend to the governing body conservation measures; and provide for the implementation of at least one conservation measure.The cost for the contract is $932,339. Superintendent Brett Boggs said there will be no impact on the tax rate for Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. because the money will come out of the Capital Projects Fund this year. Work will be done this summer at Burket Educational Center.
In other business, the school board:
n Approved an out-of-state conference for literacy coaches Karla Hayden, Kristen Horrell, June Yazel and Curriculum Director Angie Miller to Grand Rapids, Mich., to attend the Michigan Reading Association Conference.
n Accepted the resignation of Inga Omondi, assistant varsity volleyball coach, Tippecanoe Valley High School.
n Heard the next regular school board meetings will be March 9, Tippecanoe Valley High School, Akron; April 20, Akron Elementary School; and May 11, Mentone Elementary School. All meetings are at 7:30 p.m.
n Accepted the maternity leave request for Dawn Walker, Mentone teacher.
n Accepted the following extracurricular assignments: Matt Mobley, girls tennis coach, TVHS; Rebecca Dike, assistant track coach, Tippecanoe Valley Middle School.
n Approved the hiring of Bobby Adams, grade six boys assistant basketball coach.
n Approved the minutes of Jan. 19, claims and payroll.
Valley School Board members are Mark Wise, Hal Hoffman, Bryan Murphy, Rod Eaton and David O'Brien.
