MENTONE - The Tippecanoe Valley school board held a special meeting to hold their public hearing on the budget for 1999.
The tax rate for 1999 was set at $6.2092. This was based on the assessed value of $85.5 million.
The budget is divided into five sections, and their tax rates follow: special education - $.01; capital projects - $.6478; transportation - $.8616; debt service - $1.7008; general fund - $2.989.
The budget should be adopted at the regular meeting Sept.14.
The board also hired Gary Teel as the head varsity girls basketball coach and Steven Backus as the middle school football coach.
