AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. is losing one principal but gaining one of Warsaw’s if approved by the school board Monday. On the Tippecanoe Valley School Board’s agenda is the resignation of Mentone Elementary School Principal Angela Miller and the hiring of Leesburg Elementary Principal Randy Dahms to replace her. According to an email this morning from TVSC Superintendent Brett Boggs, Miller has accepted a position as curriculum coordinator with the Caston School Corp. Miller was employed by TVSC for the past 17 years, most recently as Mentone’s principal. Prior to that, she served as Valley’s curriculum director. “She enjoyed being an elementary school principal, but her heart was always with the role of curriculum director. Her resignation was effective June 30, 2015. Angie has been an outstanding employee for Tippecanoe Valley. She will be missed. We wish her all the best in her new role with Caston,” Boggs said in his email. The principal’s position was posted after Boggs received Miller’s resignation June 10. There were 20 applicants. Four were interviewed, and Dahms will be recommended to the school board for approval Monday. According to Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert, Dahms has been with WCS at Leesburg for eight years. “He’s done a wonderful job for us. Academically, it’s been an A-B school since the beginning of the school grading system. We wish Randy nothing but the best in the transition,” Hoffert said in a telephone interview this morning. Hoffert said the Leesburg principal job has been posted and already a good pool of candidates has applied. He said there was plenty of time before the start of the school year to find a new principal at Leesburg. First round of interviews will take place in about 1-1/2 weeks, with a second round after that. Hoffert said summer is a typical time for school staff to switch jobs or change schools because of one reason or another. In May, Dr. Jon K. Lippe left his job as Lakeview Middle School principal to become the Manchester Junior-Senior High School associate principal, and then the principal in June 2016 when current Manchester Principal Nancy Alspaugh retires. In June, Amy Sivley, WCS human resources department head, was named to replace Lippe. “There’s no hard feelings,” Hoffert said. “We wish Randy and Tippecanoe Valley all the best.”
