AKRON – With a pair of straight-set singles wins and a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles, Tippecanoe Valley’s varsity boys tennis team beat Three Rivers Conference rival Whitko Tuesday evening. Hosting their foes from South Whitley, the Vikings scored wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with Trevor Neeley and Keith Wright. Neeley won his match 6-0, 7-5 over Whitko’s Bailey Platt, while Wright was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Corey Hersha. Valley scored the decisive team point at No. 2 doubles, where Eric Wright and Kane Steller beat Bill Stump and Austin Hollowell 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2. In No. 3 singles action, Whitko’s Alex Bechtold beat Valley’s Nick Caudill 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. And at No. 1 doubles, the Wildcats’ duo of Nicolas Rose and Tim Gensch beat Dakota Parker and Seth Hoffman 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2. Whitko will be in action again today when it hosts conference foe Wabash, while Valley will travel to TRC rival Manchester Thursday.
