SYRACUSE – A strong second-quarter effort and a trio of double-figure scorers led Tippecanoe Valley’s varsity boys basketball team to a 58-46 win at Wawasee Friday night. In the regular season finale for both teams, the Valley Vikings clung to an 18-16 lead over the host Warriors after one quarter of play. Valley then put the clamps on defensively in the second stanza, holding Wawasee to just four points in the frame and taking a 32-20 lead at halftime. The Vikings made that 12-point advantage stand, as they improved to 16-3 on the season, while Wawasee fell to 4-16. Valley has won 12 of its last 13 games, while the Warriors have lost six of their last seven. The two teams will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Class 3A Sectional 21 action at Wawasee. Tanner Andrews led the Vikings with a game-high 21 points. Valley also got 14 points from Chainey Zolman and 10 from Ben Shriver. Zolman made four of Valley’s five three-pointers. Alex Clark led Wawasee with 14 points, while Gage Reinhard chipped in with 12 and Adam Voirol added eight points.
