ROCHESTER – During the 2010-2011 Indiana legislative session multiple bills were passed resulting in major reform in public education.

Senate Bill 1 was one of the primary education reform bills that addressed teacher tenure and due process, teacher compensation and teacher evaluation.

Both the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. and the Rochester Community Schools have selected the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning Teacher Evaluation System for implementation in their schools for the 2012-2013 school year.

On Thursday and Friday, Tippecanoe Valley and Rochester collaborated to conduct two days of orientation for approximately 40 educators on the new McREL Teacher Evaluation System. The orientation sessions were hosted by Rochester Community Schools at the Rochester Learning Center.

The participants in the orientation have the responsibility of taking what they learned about the McREL Teacher Evaluation System back to their schools to share with staff.
