Valley Budget Passes Hearing

Posted
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley School Board wrapped up its public budget hearing Monday evening in a matter of minutes.
No members of the public were present.
The 2015 budget was advertised at a total of $22,956,612 for all funds.
The largest of the five funds is the general fund, which was advertised at $15,991,280. Other funds include debt service at $2,632,170; capital projects, $2,406,874; transportation, $1,649,288; and bus replacement fund at $277,000.
Superintendent Brett Boggs reminded the board they went over the budget Aug. 18 during their work session. The board approved advertising the budget as presented, and it appeared in the Times-Union and Rochester Sentinel twice.
Valley will adopt the budget at its regular meeting Oct. 13.
He also reminded the board that while they can always reduce the budget, once it’s been advertised it can never be increased, so it’s advertised on the high side.
Mark Wise, board member, asked if they had received any new information from the state about the 2015 budget.
“Nothing has changed,” Boggs replied.
