Valley Board Hears About Eagle Scout Project

Posted
MENTONE – The Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Board of Trustees held its regular November meeting at Mentone Elementary School Monday night.
As per usual, the meeting started with a presentation from a local pastor. Dr. Rod Utter of Cornerstone Church in Mentone spent several minutes addressing the boldness of the school corporation.
Camden Tucker, a sophomore at Tippecanoe Valley High School, recently completed his Eagle Scout project by redoing the landscaping at the Burket Educational Center. His project featured a variety of plants, mulch and pea gravel contained by steel edging along the front side of the building, around several trees and the flagpole. Tucker and the board invite those in the community to come see how the hard work he and the rest of his troop did paid off.
In other news, multiple new employee hires were approved by the board, including extra-curricular coaches and cafeteria staff. Several aspects of the new Akron Elementary School project were discussed, but have not yet been approved. The bond procedures for the project will be made soon, which Akron Elementary principal Chrissy Mills expressed excitement with.
A new policy to name facilties after prominent community members has been proposed, but won’t be approved until a later meeting.
