An undisclosed amount of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes were reported taken during an armed robbery Friday night at a Warsaw gas station.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to a 10:38 p.m. 911 call from the Pak-A-Sak Food Mart/Shell Station at U.S. 30 and CR 250E after two male suspects reportedly fled from the business. One of the men was allegedly armed with a .22-caliber rifle during the robbery.
According to a KCSD press release, the men entered the store and told the male attendant to open the cash register. The 33-year-old employee was then reportedly ordered into a bathroom and told that he would be shot if he came out. The attendant complied with the order and, after he no longer heard any movement in the store, came out of the bathroom and called 911.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
One of the suspects is described as a white male 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a black or dark blue jacket with the hood pulled tightly around his face, a dark scarf covering his mouth and nose and dark-colored pants.
The other suspect is described as a white male 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a black or dark blue jacket with the hood pulled tightly around his face, a gray face mask and dark-colored pants.
Two witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am parked behind the building with the lights on when the two suspects reportedly ran inside. The witnesses went to a nearby residence to call police and, upon their return, the vehicle was gone.
This is the third armed robbery in Kosciusko County in eight days. Four people were arrested Dec. 23 in connection with a Dec. 20 robbery at On Cue in Warsaw and police are continuing to investigate a Wednesday armed robbery at Marlene's Marathon at Ind. 13 and Old Road 30, where a .22-caliber gun was fired inside the business.
In Friday's robbery, the KCSD was assisted at the scene by officers from the Winona Lake, Warsaw and Pierceton police departments and the Indiana State Police.
A K-9 track of the area ended east of the business at a Penguin Point facility, where three scratch-off lottery tickets and a plastic tube were located.
Anyone with information in this or Wednesday's crimes is asked to contact the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at 267-5667 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-342-STOP.
