U.S. 30, Parker Street Intersection Lane Work Planned Tuesday

Posted
Indiana Department of Transportation will be making signalization and geometric lane changes to the intersection of U.S. 30 and Parker Street Tuesday.
In June, the Warsaw Traffic Safety Commission asked Indiana Department of Transportation to re-evaluate the intersection due to drivers being unable to turn onto U.S. 30 from Parker Street due to the high volume of oncoming traffic.
The INDOT traffic study concluded that a dedicated left and straight phase be installed for southbound Parker Street. The study also concluded the south side of the intersection is underutilized and recommended making the current northbound right only turn lane, a combined right and straight lane, since there are two receiving lanes north of the intersection.
Once these changes are complete, drivers going south from the area of Menards will have their own phase that will allow southbound traffic to go straight across U.S. 30 and turn onto U.S. 30, while the northbound Parker Street traffic is held.
It also means that drivers going north on Parker Street will have an additional lane to cross U.S. 30.With this additional lane, northbound Parker Street drivers intending to go to businesses on the east side of Parker Street and Menards, or to travel to Patterson Road, should now use the right-hand lane as they approach the U.S. 30 intersection.
Drivers intending to go north on Husky Trail should use the middle lane as they approach the U.S. 30 intersection. INDOT will be painting dashed lane assistance lines through the intersection.
These changes should assist the movement of traffic through this intersection  and help to allow traffic crossing U.S. 30 to turn.
