U.S. 30 Crash Claims Life Of Kentucky Man

A Kentucky man was killed early this morning when a semi truck struck a disabled vehicle on U.S. 30 on the west side of Warsaw.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded at approximately 1:45 a.m. today to a reported disabled vehicle in the roadway on U.S. 30 near CR 350W.

Upon arrival, deputies found the disabled vehicle, a 2016 Nissan driven by Louis M. Doty, 75, of Paris, Ky., had been struck in the eastbound roadway of U.S. 30 by a 2015 Volvo semi in the eastbound lane, according to a news release from the KCSD.

Doty was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

Statements from the semi driver and a witness at the scene indicated the stopped vehicle was difficult to observe during the nighttime conditions.

The driver of the semi was identified as Eugeni Zhogonov, 56, Aventura, Fla. He was not injured in the crash.

Officers stated that the crash is under investigation.

The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Atwood Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the KCSD.
