NAPPANEE – Ura M. Hochstetler, 70, of 7716 N. CR 1100N, Nappanee, died of an apparent heart attack at 10:35 a.m. Feb. 27, 2012, in the emergency room of Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1942, in Bremen, to Manasses and Amelia Borkholder Hochstetler. On May 10, 1962, in Nappanee, he married Miriam Miller, who survives.
He was a harness maker and owned H&M Harness Shop. He was a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ruth (and spouse Daniel) Yoder, Marion, Mich., and Rachel (and spouse Melvin) Helmuth, Nappanee; five sons, Loren Hochstetler (and Liz Kuhns), Lavern Hochstetler, Ura Lee Hochstetler (and Lora Mae Whetstone) and Leander Hochstetler (and Kara Schwartz), all of Nappanee, and David Hochstetler, (and Nora Kauffman), Goshen; 37 grandchildren; three sisters: Anna Gingerich, Jamesport, Mo.; Clara Hochstetler, Goshen; and Judith (and spouse Allen) Kauffman, Middlebury; and three brothers: Ezra (and spouse Pat) Hochstetler, Goshen; John Henry (and spouse Mary Ellen) Hochstetler, Middlebury; and Wilbur (and spouse Susie) Hochstetler, Charlotte, Mich. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Richard Yoder residence, 8232 W. CR 1050N, officiated by Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church. Burial will be in Graber Cemetery.
Calling is after 10 a.m. Wednesday and all day Thursday at the Leander Hochstetler residence, 7714 W. CR 1100N.
