Severe weather delayeded the search for a man that went missing in Little Chapman Lake Tuesday afternoon. But shortly after resuming the search late this morning, a man’s body was recovered from the lake, according to Chad Hill, public information officer for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. The victim has been identified as Edward Hundley, 70, of Warsaw. Rescue crews responded to 1987 Chapman Lake Drive for a call shortly before 4 p.m. of a 70-year-old man in the water. Witnesses told DNR and KCSD officials that Hundley was swimming from a pontoon boat when he went under water. A preliminary investigation was conducted by Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, according to Officer Jon Boyd, public information officer for the DNR, during an interview Tuesday evening. DNR officials continued their search efforts into Tuesday evening. “We’re using a side-scan sonar to scan the lake,” officer Boyd said. “It takes high-definition images of the lake.” Officer Boyd also added that they are not calling this a drowning as other factors, such as health, may have contributed to the cause of death. Dive teams searched the lake until storms approached the county last night. Crews resumed their search until this morning’s severe weather swept the area. Divers continued their search once lightning left the area this morning. Kosciusko County Dive Team, IDNR conservation officers, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Leesburg Fire, Winona Lake Fire, Warsaw Police Department and Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory all responded.
