Predictions for a large snowstorm that will arrive late tonight appear to vary across parts of northern Indiana, but it appears the Warsaw area will certainly receive some accumulation Friday and Saturday.
A system storm – not lake effect – is expected to begin crossing through northern Indiana late tonight and will continue through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast from the NWS for the South Bend area calls for as much as 12 to 18 inches of snow and about half of that for the area along of U.S. 30, that passes through the midsection of Kosciusko County.
The NWS forecast predicts Warsaw could receive a combined 6 to seven 8 of snow beginning tonight and ending Friday, but also predicts a chance of snow will linger through Sunday.
At the same time, the storm is not expected to bring with it excessive wind or cold, which are key characteristics of a blizzard.
Friday’s high temperature is expected to be near 30 and the low will be around 20. The wind will be light, the weather service said.
Nationally, the storm is expected to stretch from the Upper Plains to New England.
