My friend, Mr. Eppenbaugh, thinks the non-healthcare bill passed in March is universal health care. Universal health care guarantees health care to every citizen as a right. Obamacare does nothing of the sort. Many people will opt to pay a fine instead of being victimized by the exorbitant rates of for-profit insurance companies. We will still have people denied life-saving medical care because they cannot afford it. Homes and life savings will still be lost by the uninsured. Contrary to what the right says, emergency room care does not include treatment for serious long-term medical conditions like cancer, heart disease, kidney disease and diabetes.
Mr. Eppenbaugh advocates cutting social welfare programs to achieve smaller government. He didn't specify what programs he would cut, but social welfare programs are meant as a safety net for society's less fortunate, many of whom are children. How many sick, starving, dying children are acceptable to you, sir, all of the poor ones?
Mr. Eppenbaugh denies equating Progressivism with Nazism yet goes on to say, "Nazism is just one branch of Progressivism." So which is it? I don't think you know what you believe. May I point out that the government expansion under Reagan and Bush is not Progressivism. Tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, union busting, soaking the working class and war mongering are not progressive ideals.
Mr. Eppenbaugh alleges that the two-party system is a major flaw in this country. I respectfully disagree. The problem is the one-party system. It's called the Corporate Party. Multi-national corporations and their lobbyists own every damn politician, regulatory agency and judge in the country. Until we have publicly funded campaigns, corporations will be allowed to purchase the government they want. Do you really believe the Walmart worker has as much clout with their congressman as the Walmart lobbyist?
Lastly, sir, you claim not to know where Wilson and Goebbels are spending their afterlife, but claim to know they are together. What a ridiculous assertion. How could you possibly know one without knowing the other? I'm still waiting on word about the three amigos, Reagan, Pinochet and Saddam Hussein.
