United Way Helps Fund 'New Beginnings'

MILFORD - United Way of Kosciusko County awarded New Beginnings Child Care Inc., a venture grant that will be used for operational costs during its second year of service.

New Beginnings is a licensed, not-for-profit organization that provides activities to children ages 3 through 12.

The children are taught socialization skills, kindergarten readiness and music.

The center services the needs of low-income as well as moderate- and high-income families.

New Beginnings, in Milford, has been in operation since September 1996. It was previously known as Generations and operated out of the Lakeland Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The center has collected funds to build a new facility. The Indiana Department of Commerce may be giving a community block grant that matches the funds the center has collected.

The application for the grant has been submitted and the results will be known next month.
