WABASH - An unique exhibit of typefaces created by Jim Spiece is currently on display at the Honeywell Center through Oct. 20.Spiece, a Wabash native, owns Spiece Graphics in Fort Wayne and specializes in logo and typeface designs. He not only creates original designs, but also revives classic fonts, a task Spiece claims is more difficult than it seems. He must find a complete set of characters, which can prove challenging. He often finds himself in basements of public libraries, flea markets and old bookstores.
"It's a minor inconvenience when you consider you've brought these typefaces back from obscurity," Jim said. "In one sense, my own designs are easier because they've never had a previous life."
A public artist reception will be Sunday at 4 p.m. RSVPs are appreciated. Contact Andrea Zwiebel by e-mail at az@honeywellcenter.org or call 260-563-1102, Ext. 501.
