PIERCETON – Two occupants were inside a mobile home when it caught fire in Pierceton Thursday night, though both escaped the blaze without injury.
There is no indication of what started the fire, and the incident is still under investigation.
Dale Friedrich, incident commander with the Pierceton Fire Department, said the department received a call of a fire in progress at 5358 E. Washington Road, Pierceton, around 9:45 p.m. Thursday. Within 10 minutes of arriving on scene, the fire was under control.
Friedrich said the fire was contained to one bedroom in the mobile home, but there was extensive smoke and water damage to the rest of the property.
He said he would deem the mobile home a total loss. According to the Kosciusko County website, the property is owned by William F. Kain, Warsaw.
Pierceton Fire Department responded with a full  assist from Winona Lake Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
