NORTH WEBSTER – Two 14-year-old North Webster runaways were located in Wisconsin Monday after traveling through six states in seven days.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin, located two runaway 14-year-olds from Kosciusko County early Monday morning. The males, whose names are currently being withheld, were found after police had tracked or “pinged” their cellular phone.
Both juvenile males were last seen Sept. 17 at their respective homes outside of North Webster and were reported as runaways to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department the following day.
Family members were able to obtain additional information Saturday that allowed KCSD deputies to “ping” a cellular phone that the runaways had retrieved. The phone was located west of Nashville, Tenn., but movements and exact locations were sporadic.
Deputies eventually converged onto a constant-tracking location signal early Monday morning in the town of Alma Center, Wisconsin, at a gas station.
Deputies discovered that the two juveniles had previously taken a family 2006 Buick Terraza van from North Webster and discarded it in Missouri. They apparently had then traveled into Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and then into Wisconsin with another vehicle that has yet to be located.
