Two More Filed For May Primary

Two more Republican incumbents have filed for the May primary election as of Friday, with no Democrats having filed.

Austin Reynolds is seeking re-election to the Winona Lake Town Council District 1 seat, while Cindy Kaiser is seeking to continue in her Syracuse Town Council District 3 position. Both candidates were named to their respective boards through caucuses.

Filing for the city/town elections began Jan. 4.

Previous filings included:

Bill Musser filed for Syracuse Town Council District 5 and Virginia Cazier filed for Syracuse clerk-treasurer.

Ashley McGinnis filed for Winona Lake Town Council Ward 2. Winona Lake Clerk-Treasurer Laurie Renier and Councilwoman Heather James, District 4, filed.

Jeff Grose, an incumbent Warsaw Common Councilman for District 2, filed for mayor as current Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer is not seeking re-election.

Warsaw Common Councilmen who filed included William Frush, District 4; Josh Finch, District 2; Cindy Dobbins, at-large; Diane Quance, District 5; Mike Klondaris, District 3; and Jack Wilhite, at-large.

Warsaw Clerk-Treasurer Lynne Christiansen also filed.

For the Syracuse, Warsaw and Winona Lake primary elections, filing ends at noon Feb. 3 for Republican and Democrat candidates only. If the towns do not have a contested primary, then a primary may not be held.

Filing for the general elections for Claypool, Etna Green, Leesburg, Mentone, North Webster, Pierceton, Sidney and Silver Lake ends at noon Aug. 1 for Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians.

They may have a town convention if there is a contested race within a party. The party will hold a convention to make their selection from those candidates. If there is a contested race between the parties within a town, they will have an election in November for that town. Some towns will not have an election at all because only the set number of candidates filed.
