Two Lady Tigers Advance In NLC Tourney

PLYMOUTH – Two members of the Warsaw girls tennis team will play for Northern Lakes Conference titles Friday by virtue of winning semifinal matches at Plymouth on Thursday.
Collette Smith advanced to the No. 2 singles championship match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hannah Walter of NorthWood. Ella Knight moved on to the No. 3 singles title match with a three-set win over Northridge’s Taylor Sellers.
Warsaw will play for third place in two other positions. Liza Lewis lost 6-3, 6-1 to top-seeded Krystal Grubb of Elkhart Memorial, and will take on Alana Brubaker of Concord for third place today.
Hannah Rice and Athena Schlitt lost 6-2, 6-3  to NorthWood’s Jama Rice and Kennedy Wiens at No. 1 doubles. The Lady Tiger duo will take on Memorial’s Layla Jojo and Maggie Dickerson.
Grace Miller and Rosie Fleming completed their NLC tournament with a seventh-place finish, beating Wawasee’s Courtney Larson and Kendra Doerr 8-0.
The Lady Warriors finished the tournament in eighth place at all five positions.
The remainder of the tournament concludes today at the Warsaw Community High School courts.
