Two people were injured Saturday night when the car they were in left the roadway and struck a pole along CR 700S, west of Ind. 15, near Claypool. Brenda Miller of Claypool was ejected from the car and pinned underneath it. Police said the vehicle first hit an embankment and rolled over two to three times before coming to rest against the pole. Miller is in serious but stable condition at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she was taken by helicopter. Alvin Prater, 41, Roann, also in Miller's vehicle, suffered unspecified injuries and was treated at the scene. According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, the accident investigation is ongoing and it has not yet been determined which of the two was driving. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff Al Rovenstine.
