For the second time in less than a week, a Warsaw pharmacy has been robbed, and police have linked the crimes to members of the same family.
Around 8:02 p.m. Saturday, an employee of Walgreen's Drug Store, 2400 E. Center St., Warsaw, reported the pharmacy had been robbed.
According to the Warsaw Police Department, a woman handed the pharmacist a note that said the pharmacist should not talk to anyone and get a bottle of Methadone or he/she would be shot.Although the woman did not display a gun, the pharmacist handed the bottle to her, and the woman ran from the store and got in a red truck with a male driver and drove west on Market Street.
When police arrived at the drug store, Sgt. Clay Layne watched a surveillance video of the robbery, and remembered a woman who had been at the Warsaw Police Department Friday to recover items from a Chevrolet Blazer involved in the robbery of Zales Drug Store July 8.
After watching the video, police believed the woman in the video was Traci Craig.
Once the woman was identified, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department sent officers to 436 W. Riverchase Drive, Warsaw, where Traci and Todd Craig were taken into custody and a red Dodge Dakota was impounded for investigation.
As Warsaw Police Detective Bryan Sherwin was interviewing Traci Craig about the incident, he noticed she was acting lethargic, and he called for an ambulance. Police learned that both Traci and Todd Craig had ingested several Methadone pills.
Both Traci and Todd Craig were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and put in the intensive care unit.
Once released from the hospital Sunday, Traci Craig, 20, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on one count of strong-armed robbery and is being held on $100,000 bond. Todd Craig, 43, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on one count of aiding and abetting in a robbery and is being held on $100,000 bond.
Traci Craig is the daughter of Troy Craig, who was arrested last week for allegedly robbing Zales Drug Store, 1775 E. Center St., Warsaw. Troy Craig, 42, and Jamey Roberts, 23, who is Traci Craig's boyfriend, were arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery.
Todd Craig is Troy Craig's brother and Traci Craig's uncle.
Craig, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, and Roberts, of 436 W. Riverchase Drive, Warsaw, allegedly entered Zales Drug Store around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and demanded Oxycontin and Methadone. After the pharmacist gave the men the medication, they fled in a red Chevrolet Blazer.
After police found the men, they were arrested for the crime.
