NORTH WEBSTER - Two Syracuse residents were hospitalized after a Tuesday afternoon accident near North Webster. A third man also was injured in the 3:36 p.m. accident at the intersection of CRs 650E and 300N.

Jason P. Wylie, 20, of East Lynwood Drive, Syracuse, suffered a broken leg, and Nathan Addison, 19, of the same address, complained of chest pain. Both were admitted to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, where they were listed in stable condition this morning.

According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, Wylie was southbound on CR 650E when a northbound car driven by Kevin E. Bowman, 40, East Clark Street, Warsaw, turned in front of him. Bowman said he didn't see any vehicles approaching as he made his turn and he was unable to avoid the collision.

Bowman complained of abdominal pain and was treated at KCH and released.

A witness statement on the accident report indicated that a vehicle between hers and Wylie's was attempting to pass but was unable to because of a hill. The driver also said the cars were traveling faster than 50-55 mph because she was driving at that speed and the cars were pulling away from her.

Wylie told a police officer at the hospital that he was speeding at the time of the accident and had accelerated to prevent the other car from passing him, according to the report.
