Two people were treated for injuries after a three-vehicle accident in front of Meijer Monday.
Brett M. Anson, 19, Logan Street, Warsaw, was westbound on Lake City Highway approaching the Meijer Drive intersection shortly after 2 p.m. Monday. He told police he was looking down at a bag of candy when his vehicle collided with two others stopped ahead of him at a red light, according to a Warsaw Police Department crash report.
Anson’s vehicle first struck a vehicle in the rear driven by Jerry K. Weaver, 74, Goshen, who was slowing for the light. Anson then struck the driver’s side rear corner of a vehicle driven by Autumn R. Kindig, 29, East CR 600N, Mentone.
Kindig’s vehicle also was struck by Weaver’s, which was pushed forward by the first impact. Weaver told police he swerved to try to avoid Kindig’s vehicle, but the front right corner of his vehicle made contact with the driver’s side rear of the other.
Weaver was treated at the scene by EMS for neck pain. A passenger in his vehicle, Kim E. Banke, 35, Mishawaka, was treated for head pain.
Damage in the accident was estimated at $25,000 to $50,000, according to the report.
