MILFORD - Two men were injured Saturday morning when they were thrown from the boat they were in on Dewart Lake.
Virgil F. Jones, 58, of EMS B61 Lane, Warsaw, suffered bruises and William A. Moss, 74, Muncie, suffered a broken ankle and many cuts, according to a report by officers with the Department of Natural Resources.
The 5:30 a.m. accident occurred when Jones was operating the watercraft. Jones told conservation officers he was starting out wide open when his glasses fell of and he let go of the steering wheel in an attempt to grab them.
When Jones let go of the wheel, the boat went into a hard spin, throwing both men into the lake. People in another boat pulled Jones and Moss from the water and took them to shore, where they were met by a Milford Emergency Medical Services crew and taken to Goshen General Hospital for treatment.
Jones' boat continued to spin out of control in the lake until it ran out of gas.
