Two Pierceton men are in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, after an all-terrain vehicle collision Saturday evening.

Lonnie D. Coffing III, 21, of Pierceton, was listed in critical condition, and Derrik J. Mast, 17, also of Pierceton, was listed in serious condition this morning at Parkview.

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, Kosciusko County Sheriff's officers were called to a field that has been converted to an ATV trail west of 6184 S. CR 700E, Pierceton, for an ATV accident.

According to witnesses, Coffing was traveling eastbound on a trail when he entered a blind curve. Mast was heading westbound on the same curve, and the ATVs collided head-on.

Both Coffing and Mast were thrown from the vehicles and suffered head injuries. The Samaritan Air Ambulance transported both men from the scene to Parkview.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton Fire Department and Pierceton EMS.
