Two area men were arrested at a disturbance at the Days Inn, Warsaw, early Saturday morning.

Police were called to investigate a domestic dispute by an employee of the hotel. When the Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputy responded, he found two men outside the hotel reportedly smelling strongly of alcohol.

As the deputy patted down one suspect, the man allegedly took a plastic baggie from his pocket and threw it into a nearby pickup. The officer recovered the bag filled with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Lewis allegedly later admitted the marijuana belonged to him.

Dan J. Bertrand, 23, of 9664 E. Seneca Lane, Cromwell, was arrested and charged at 3:57 a.m. Saturday with possession of marijuana. He is being held in Kosciusko County Jail on $450 bond.

The other man Darrell Bruce Lewis, 23, of 489 Clinic Court, Warsaw, was taken into custody when a routine warrant check revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant in Kosciusko County.

Lewis allegedly swore at police and resisted being handcuffed. A deputy reported Lewis kicked his leg and headbutted him as the deputy attempted to put Lewis in the squad car.

Lewis is being charged with battery of a police officer, failure to appear and public intoxication. He is being held on $500 bond.
