NORTH WEBSTER – A two-vehicle collision Wednesday resulted in both drivers being seriously injured.
According to information provided by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Chad Hill, Mark E. Deister, 74, Fort Wayne, was northbound in a 2010 Lincoln Navigator on Ind. 13.
Deister’s vehicle crossed the centerline in the curve just north of CR 200N, sideswiping a southbound silver 2008 Dodge Caravan driven by Howard P. Fischer, 70, Fort Wayne.
A witness behind Fischer stated to police that Deister had crossed the center line prior to impact. Both vehicles spun and continued off the east side of Ind. 13, rolling over.
Deister was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital in serious condition with a head injury. A spokeswoman for the hospital said Deister was no longer a patient at KCH as of 10:56 a.m. today.
Fischer was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center, after being extracated, in serious condition with head, neck and upper-body injuries. According to a Parkview spokeswoman, Fischer is still in serious condition as of 11 a.m. today.
The accident continues to be investigated by the KCSD.
