SYRACUSE -ÊA Syracuse man and a North Webster woman were arrested early Sunday morning

Stuart Lee Lewallen, 42, of 10766 E. CR 500E, Syracuse, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:28 a.m. Sunday for alleged possession of narcotic drugs/cocaine and possession of a sawed-off shotgun. He is being held on $10,000 bond.

Sandra Renay Johnson, 39, of 227 S. East St., North Webster, was booked into the jail for allegedly visiting a common nuisance. Her bond was set at $250.

When Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a possible break-in call at a mobile home on Syracuse-Webster Road in Syracuse, Lewallen exited the mobile home and approached them.

The deputies reportedly noticed a strong chemical odor commonly associated with methamphetamine production coming Lewallen's body.

Deputies called the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force Special Operations Team, then searched Lewallen's truck and the mobile home.

Johnson was inside the mobile home when officers went inside. Chemicals associated with the making methamphetamine were found inside the trailer.

Inside the truck, officers found a loaded sawed-off .20 gauge shotgun and more items usually associated with the production of methamphetamine.

The incident remains under investigation.
