BARBEE LAKE – Two Warsaw residents escaped a fire in their home early Sunday with no injuries. According to North Webster Fire Chief Jeremy Likens, the fire department responded to the call just after 1 a.m. Sunday at 45 EMS B60 Lane in the Barbee Lake area. Though the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Likens said it took at least an hour to control. He said the department had difficulty accessing the home because of heavy snow and the water supply was limited because of frozen hydrants. Both residents escaped without injury, though the house was deemed a total loss. County records indicate the property is owned by Brandon L. France, Anderson. North Webster Fire Department was assisted by Pierceton, Leesburg and Winona Lake fire departments and North Webster EMS. Kosciusko County Red Cross volunteers were also on the scene assisting both the family and firefighters.
