Two Die In Wabash Accidents

WABASH -ÊTwo people are dead following two separate accidents in Wabash County Sunday.

Around 3:13 p.m. Sunday, Lisa Rowe, 17, of Wabash, was killed when she failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of CR 300E and Ind. 16 and was hit by a grain truck driven by Austin Greer, 20, North Manchester. Rowe was wearing a seat belt but was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head injuries.

Rowe's father was a passenger in her car and was flown by the Samaritan Air Ambulance to Parkview Hospital with head injuries.

Greer was treated at the scene of the crash.

At 5:32 p.m. Sunday, Jennifer Lyons, 44, of North Manchester, was killed when she failed to yield for a stop sign at the intersection of CRs 900N and 500E and was hit by a car driven by Tracy Walters, 36, North Manchester.

Lyons, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Walters and her 7-year-old daughter, who was a passenger in her vehicle, were wearing seatbelts and suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Both crashes remain under investigation, but alcohol is not believed to be a factor in either crash.

The Wabash County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scenes of the crashes by the Wabash County EMA, Chester Township Fire Department, Urbana Fire Department, Life-Med Ambulance, Wabash City Ambulances and the Huntington County Sheriff's Department.
